Back from vacation

It seems like ages since I posted on my weight loss progress. At the beginning of May, we went on a two-week vacation to SC/FL to see family and friends. I completely went off my diet during that time, but I'm happy to report that I only gained two pounds. The problem is I can't seem to get rid of them. I've been hovering at 159.8 lbs. since we got back (I don't know what my measurements are as it seems I've lost my measuring tape). I guess it's because I'm having trouble getting back into my routine. I'll do okay for a couple of days, and then I'll slip up. So, this week I really need to buckle down and reestablish my eating and exercise habits.

I now have some new motivation for weight loss. I have two weddings to attend, one in November and one in January. I'll be a  member of the wedding party in the January wedding, so I want to look my best. Also, my 10-year high school reunion will be next year. Originally, I had decided not to go, but now I think I want to, and it would be nice if I could look as good as I did the last time I saw most of my friends.

In other news, I took the plunge and bought some Sketchers Shape-Ups. I've had them for two weeks, and although I'm not sure yet about their muscle toning ability, they are by far the most comfy shoes I've ever owned. I'm pleased with my purchase if only for that. I've noticed I don't feel my muscles working at extensively as I thought they would. I only feel the burn in my calves. I need to take a minute to sit down and watch the instructional video again so I can make sure that I'm walking in them correctly. If they actually do tone up my legs and butt, I will be ecstatic.

Week 6 Results

Starting point measurements:

Weight: 168 pounds
Waist measurement: 35 inches
Hip measurement: 44 inches
Thigh measurement: 26 inches

Last week's measurements:
Weight: 161 pounds
Waist measurement: 32 inches
Hip measurement: 42 inches
Thigh measurement: 24.5 inches

This week's measurments:
Weight: 157.8 pounds
Waist measurement: 31.75 inches
Hip measurement: 42 inches
Thigh measurement: 24.25 inches

Hooray! .8 pounds to go to reach my pre-pregnancy weight. I'm not exactly sure what caused me to lose 3.2 pounds this week, but I'm glad it happened.

I know I haven't been around much, but I have been so busy! I'm afraid I won't be posting much in the next two weeks either, as I will be out of town. I'll try to get in a more detailed status update before we go on vacation.
